Barnum & Bricklyn Circus

« Back to Glossary Index

Famed circus founded in 1987 by Theodore B. Brickering, the Barnum & Bricklyn Circus engaged in tour of 24 LEGO realms belonging to the League of Inland Cities in 2022-2024. The tour was sponsored by local chapters of the Legotary, with the aim of supporting the provision of quality childcare services to low-income families.

See our April 13, 2025 report on the Barnum & Bricklyn’s return to its home base of Bricklyn, VT.

In 2023, the Barnum & Bricklyn Circus made a significant change in its performances by eliminating animal acts involving lions, tigers, elephants and several other kinds of wild animals. This reflects changes also made in Outland circuses as a result of growing public pressure from people concerned with the ethical treatment of animals. See “Do Circuses Still Abuse Animals?” As a result, the Barnum & Bricklyn has increased emphasis on other Big Top performances, such as trapeze, synchronized dancing, and aerial acts, as well as more theatrical-style presentations.
