President Biden Sends Holiday Greetings to Bricklyn Eagle Readers

Bricklyn Eagle Masthead

by Editor Walt Brickman / December 20, 2024

It was a distinct honor, on behalf of all Bricklyn Eagle readers, to have received Holiday Greetings from Joe and Jill Biden and Willow, their cat. I dare say it was a beautiful, heartfelt card.

For me it brought to mind a 2022 trip that a delegation of Bricklynites took to the White House, where we were honored to meet with U.S. President Biden and several of his top advisors.

The holiday card also made me reflect on the close links between American astronauts and our own Bricklyn astronauts. Again, this reflects the close-knit relationship between the Realm of Bricklyn and the United States.

For our newer readers and friends, I reported in The Bricklyn Eagle several years ago that Bricklyn Astronaut Tom Swiftbrick actually went to the surface of the Moon with Neil Armstrong, who tucked away Swiftbrick in a pocket of his spacesuit. This was the account Neil Armstrong related to me when I interviewed Armstrong in 2019.

President Biden, years later, acknowledged the link between America and Bricklyn in writing a very special Letter to The Bricklyn Eagle on the dedication of Bricklyn’s dazzling Space Flight Park.

I hope you will take a minute to read this moving Letter to the Editor if you haven’t previously done so.

We send our Holiday wishes back to President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Willow, and wish them well in the year ahead. ✥

To the Editor: Thank you for sharing this beautiful Holiday card from the Bidens. It’s nice to know they have kept in touch with us here in Bricklyn. I found it interesting to see that their greeting calls for a “holiday season full of peace, faith, and love.” Any greeting from the next U.S. President would, it’s sad to say, likely call for a “holiday season full of discord, nihilism, and hatred.” — Kenneth Plater Knudson, South Bricklyn, VT.
